For nearly a decade, we dreamed of opening our own restaurant. For Chef Ann Cook, it was a dream inspired by her mother, who was well-known in her village for the delicious food and desserts she made from scratch and sold in the village market . Ann wanted to follow in her footsteps and bring that same passion to a new community.
That dream is Take Thai, a true "East meets West" partnership.
Our story began in late 2006 when Ann, who grew up in the beach town of Huai Yang, Thailand, met Chris, a California native. Ann's hometown is known for its fresh seafood and a cuisine that is together, spicy, savory, and slightly sweet. It's this "traditional" style of cooking—based on specific ingredients and methods—that we wanted to share.

After Ann spent 10 years managing, opening stores, and training associates for a national restaurant chain, we decided to make our dream a reality. We chose Louisville, Kentucky, one of the best "foodie cities" in the U.S., as the perfect home for our restaurant.
It was a labor of love. We spent nearly a year building out the restaurant from a bare retail shell, designing an "open kitchen concept" from the start. We wanted our guests to see, hear, and smell the sizzle of the traditional cooking that makes our food special. We call it ‘ROCK the WOK’!
Our menu is a reflection of this "East meets West" story. You'll find the Thai staples most Americans know and love, like Pad Thai and Tom Kha soup, balanced with the traditional, fiery dishes Ann grew up with, such as Pad Gra Paow (basil stir-fry), Som Tum (green papaya salad), and Khao Pad Prik Gaeng (red curry basil fried rice).
This restaurant is our dream realized: a place to share the traditional Thai flavors Ann grew up with, right here in our new home.
Feel free to reach out for inquiries, reservations, or just to share the joy and love of our traditional Thai cuisine. Your flavorful adventure begins with us!
